About us

Sandy Spier…
Born and raised in Joliet, Illinois. I married my husband Scot in 1992 and a year later we moved to LaCrosse Wisconsin. I have enjoyed a long career in retail. I was a manager with Kohl’s for 7 years and a general manager with Old Navy for 3 years upon returning to the DeKalb area.

I remember the first time I attended the Kane County flea market… I was hooked. My heart would start beating fast with each new bargain that I would find. A friend would ask “what are you going to do with that?” I wasn’t really sure but I knew that I could find a new purpose for some of that “junk”. I remember thinking that my dream would be to find a way to make a living by shopping at the flea market. So…a small pile of treasures started accumulating in my basement in hopes that one day I could open up my very own shop.

That dream came true in May 2006 when I opened Poppy Seed Primitives.

Owning my own business has been an amazing experience. …truly a dream come true. I’m one of the few people who can’t wait to get to work every day. I could not have reached this level of success without your loyalty, support and friendship throughout the past 14 years.

However, it’s time to start a new chapter. I’m not sure what that looks like but I can’t wait to explore the possibilities as Scot and I look forward to traveling and spending more time together.

Thank you for allowing me and my dogs to play a small role in your lives. You will always hold a special place in my heart.
